Ahok Pledges to Complete LRT in 2018

Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama pledges to complete the construction of Light Rapid Transit (LRT) construction in 2018. Moreover, at that time, Jakarta will host the Asian Games.

“Athletes, don't worry, we're going to provide an athlete village in Kemayoran. The groundbreaking at Block D-10 and in two LRT corridors will be done this year,” said Ahok when he handed over a reward to outstanding athletes from Jakarta on Sea Games XXVIII/2015 Singapore, at City Hall, Tuesday (8/4).

He added LRT construction is intended to simplify state guest in terms of transportation. Such corridors in question are corridor 1 (Kebayoran Lama-Kelapa Gading) and corridor 7 (Kelapa Gading-Kemayoran-Pesing-Bandara Soekarno Hatta).

“According to schedule, the state guest could directly ride the LRT towards athlete village in Kemayoran after they get off the plane . It is also provided if they want to go to Soekarno Stadium (GBK). Its depot is still being prepared,” he said.

Another facility is additional flyover in Semanggi. Its procurement is purposed to parse traffic congestion.

“It will enhance our national when the guests come. Previously, Jakarta that had hosted the 1962 Asian Games and Bung Karno managed to demonstrate Semanggi and Gelora Bung Karno,” he disclosed.
